Cujo or the Dominator?

So it looks like the Red Wings are going to go ahead and sign Dominic Hasek tomorrow. Of course the main topic of discussion will be what happens with Curtis Joseph. Many will recall what happenned when the Toronto Maple Leafs signed Joseph a few years ago, even though they already had a starting goalie in Felix Potvin.

Potvin sat around as the backup for a few months, before being dealt to the New York Islanders. It looks like Joseph will be on the other side of a similar trade. The question now is where will he end up?

The Philadelphia Flyers were thought to have been an ideal team for Cujo, but with their signing of Jeff Hackett they are sure to be out of the running. The rest of the league will most likely be handicapped by Joseph's huge contract and a possible contract dispute next year.

Looks like the worst kept secret in the NHL is out. Dominic Hasek has been signed by the Wings and now Ken Holland will start working on trading Curtis Joseph. New York Rangers, St Louis Blues, and the Boston Bruins have been mentioned - Holland would probably like to trade CuJo to the East.

Now that Potvin is with the Kings maybe they will be looking to replace him with Cujo... however one has to ask what the kings would give up for Cujo. The only problem is that the red wings want Cujo to end up in the East, however, I would rather see Cujo on the Kings than have him end up on a team like the Colorado avalanche where he could be much more dangerous.

Potvin has signed with the Bruins, so they should be out of the Cujo sweepstakes. I guess now it will all depend on the seriousness of Joseph's ankle injury.

With Hasek out for the season, guess Cujo will stay right where he is... ha ha ha
