Trades mark pre-free agency period
The NHL entry draft this past weekend had some notable picks but trades overshadowed the event in Vancouver. The action started last Friday with Florida and Vancouver getting together for a blockbuster. Some pretty high-profile players like Alex Tanguay, Pavol Demitra, Todd Bertuzzi, Roberto Luongo and Andrew Raycroft changes teams. Earlier this week we also go the news that Oilers defenseman Chris Pronger was not happy in Edmonton (or atleast his wife wasn't) and so we've had a flurry of trade speculation involving just about over other team. Here are more details on some of the major trades:
- Colorado traded F Alex Tanguay pick to Calgary for D Jordan Leopold, a second-round draft pick and a 2007 or 2008 second-round conditional draft
- Los Angeles Kings traded F Pavol Demitra to Minnesota for F Patrick O'Sullivan and the No. 17 pick (F Trevor Lewis)
- Boston traded G Andrew Raycroft to Toronto for the rights to G Tuukka Rask
- Canucks traded F Todd Bertuzzi, D Bryan Allen G Alex Auld to Florida in exchange for G Roberto Luongo, D Lukas Krajicek and a sixth-round pick in 2006.
