Rangers looking to bulk up
The New York Rangers are one of the pleasant surprises of the "new NHL". They are currently fifth in the Eastern Conference with 57 points and rumour has it that the team is looking to add players for a playoff run. Veteran defenseman and former Ranger Brian Leetch was being hotly pursued by general Glen Sather. But the Bruins declined the deal that would have sent defenseman Tom Poti back their way.
Talks between the Bruins and Rangers may not be dead just yet, as another rumour out there is of a bigger deal that would also see free-agent to be, Sergei Samsonov also end up in the Big Apple. The Rangers may also have interest in underachieving Phoenix Coyotes centre Petr Nedved. Nedved was part of the Rangers organization in 1994 and then again between 1999-2004 but is currently having a very poor season. Another player rumoured to have interested the Rangers is Anaheim Mighty Ducks winger Petr Sykora.
